Drugs, free “love”, rebellion – not anything that was part of my life. Then I went to college, my horizons started to broaden, but I still stayed very conservative – both fiscally and politically. The word environment seldom entered my conversations.
Fast forward to the early 90’s and I added a new role, a new career to my consciousness. I became a mom. That was the moment the environment mattered, the future mattered, and my role in the improvement or continued destruction mattered. I began the journey that has led me to the present Earth Day 2011. When did your journey begin? What brought the environment and your role in it to your every day life? Has it happened yet?
All good questions to consider as we celebrate the 41st anniversary of Earth Day. Happy Birthday, environmental movement. May we pick up the pace of acknowledging your value and purpose over the next 41 years.
